PROJECT: EPSS: Officer of the Day Intranet Logbook The Need . In the past the Officer of the Day (OOD) would log all activities and issues into a big green Log book. When an issue had arisen that the Command needed to address they would need to get the Log from the Officer of the Day and search through it for the information they required. Solution. Create a cost-effective, Intranet-deliverable Electronic Performance Support System using Active Server Pages and Database to allow OOD to enter information and the Command to review this information from any Coast Guard Workstation. Solution. Create a cost-effective, Intranet-deliverable Electronic Performance Support System using Active Server Pages and Database to allow OOD to enter information and the Command to review this information from any Coast Guard Workstation.
There are four tiers of users:
Users are managed and edited by the Command Administrators user administration tool available only to the proper logins. Each Officer of the Day has their own login and their user is stamped to every entry they make along with a current date and time. Command Administrators cannot change an Officer of the Day log entry however they can log notes that are attached to the entry. Results . Users can now login and fill in their normal OOD log on the Intranet. When the command needs to review the Log they simply login from a Coast Guard workstation and can view, search, and even add comments to the log for future reference. This products impact currently benefits the command. Now they do not have to get the Log book from the OOD each morning for review.June 3, 2005
